Police in Canada are promising that people “dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive” will listen to Nickelback while they’re on the way to jail.

“No need to thank us,” the Kensington Police Service Facebook page read. “We figure if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you.”

Nickelback is a Canadian rock band formed in 1995 and sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. However, they are the frequently the subject of ridicule on the Internet and were No. 2 on the Rolling Stone readers pol of the worst bands of the 1990s.

Kensington police posed an unopened copy of Nickelback’s 2001 release “Silver Side Up” with their warning to drunken drivers.

“Let’s not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback,” the post said. “You don't drink and drive and we won't make you listen to it.”
